Elephants all the way down

Games

Roleplay does not have to stop at the tabletop. Blue’s Campaigns, manoeuvres and scenarios runs it at the scale of a whole geopolitical ecosystem: a city and its Establishment, its most-watched ally Fungolia, the red-team consultancy that probes them, the regional registry whose routes the entire frontier hears, and the ministry that investigates its own sisters. Each is a standing premise, and inside each sit smaller roleplays: a single incident, a defender watching their own border, a breach reconstructed one step at a time.

It is wheels within wheels. A nation-state manoeuvre contains an institutional exercise contains a single incident-response drill, and the same event reads differently at each ring: an outright BGP hijack at the top, a defender proving that every route is valid and something is still wrong at the bottom. The premise recurses, and a group can enter at whichever ring it can hold.

The defender’s side of these lives in blue. The attacker’s side runs from the other seat in red’s earthworks, where MycoSec, the Fungolian red-team consultancy, keeps deliberately exposed labs that make the ground for the exercises. Purple’s interest is the loop between the two: a roleplay earns its place when both seats are played by people who will have to live with what the exercise surfaces, rather than narrated from one side.
